To Molly

Tonight I watched you reach up for the handle on the door. You stood on your tip toes and balanced and you reached and reached and you got your hand on that handle and you were so proud.

I sat there and watched and in my head I yelled - STOP! You are my baby. Stay on the floor, there are toys there. There are books there. There are blankets there. There is music there. There will be time enough to reach up and grow - but right now STOP. Play, read your books and sing and dance.

All your life there will be time to reach for more to learn more but right now...

STOP...
PLAY...
READ...
SING...

DANCE

There are not enough days, hours, minutes to watch you and capture all that you are right now. But I love every piece and selfishly want to keep these treasured times as they are right now. I know I will love each step and each word as you grow into them but this time right now I just want to STOP and enjoy you.
