Turkey Day Q2

What will we see on your table this year that is unique or different from the traditional dinner? Or is there something on your table that is there every year that no one (or very few eats) but is there due to tradition?
Morning!
I am on "vacation" today. The kids will be going to LA's and Doug is at work. I am HOPING to get through some basic chores today (change sheets, vacuum, dust) along with finishing up my list for tomorrow and printing out my Xmas card envelopes.
I will also be doing some work for a few hours - but fun stuff - testing a new product.
NaBloPoMo Silly Song #20:
sung to Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer
Aubrey the cutie nose Daughter
Had some very shiny hair
And if you ever saw it
You would want to touch it so
All of the other Daughters
Want to play princess and pretend
They would want my Dear Aubrey
to lead them in a parade to the end
Then one rainy Thanksgiving Eve
Turkies came to say
Aubrey with your hair so bright
Can you help mommy cook tonight
Then how the daughters laughed
As they ate their turkey gone
Aubrey the Fair Hair Princess
You will always belong!
I am having SIGNIFICANT ISSUES with spacing on this thing and can't figure it out... in COMPOSE mode it is right and then it is smushed together when I publish. UGH

I bought a dwarf spruce tree and got an ornament for each family as a centerpiece and got a bag of Lindt Truffles to put one or 2 at each place setting...

i am sure you will find something lovely :)

It might be Christmas, but Ethan's parents insist on serving this horrible bowl of grapefruit soaked in Creme de Menthe. It's absolutely disgusting...kind of like grapefruit washed down with Listerine. Worse because I don't like grapefruit to start with...

I typically do not make T-day dinner. This year I decided I just wanted it to be the 3 of us. So unique will be asparagus as my veggie. Oh, and I have a Maple Pumpkin Cheesecake that I will be attempting too.

That punch sounds TERRIBLE. Citrus and Mint don't go well together! Maybe I'll find some cute decorations tomorrow when I buy my last minute stuff...

This year we will have a special ornamental food item on the table - Samuel Smiths Nut Brown Ale bottles (filled and chilled). I think they will go quickly, very quickly.

The Maple Pumpkin cheesecake sounds awesome.

Well, since I got put in charge of the salad this year...(I'm ducking once again from tomatoes being thrown)- that will be my contribution.

But, never underestimate the Martha Stewart in me that wants to come out...It will be the best darn looking salad they've EVER seen.

and I just can't help but throw up a little bit with that salad that Jessica mentioned, so I'll do that now...

I thought all day about a unique thing on our table. I finally came up with this: My mother-in-law always makes jalepeno cornbread. I'm sure it is tastey, but I'm not too fond of jalepenos.
